6 Tips to Improve body image

Today is R2P2D36. I am down 20 lbs for this round and a combined total of 55 lbs. I have 70 more lbs to lose until I reach my goal weight of 160.

This has been a challenging journey, but I cannot put into words the confidence I have gained with every pound I have lost. Confidence is an interesting thing. We let the strangest things take it away.

For some women who are trying to lose weight, its easy to get into the mindset of, "Im never good enough." Its easy to let a few pounds stand between us an a confident glow. I want to make something clear: you are good enough. You dont need to be skinny, you should want to be healthy.

I am not doing this diet because I hate my body, but Im doing it because I love my body. I dont want diabetes, I dont want to have a stroke, I dont want to have unhealthy pregnancies, I dont want to have a heart attack. My body deserves better than fast food. It deserves nutrients, exercise, and longevity.

I read an article on LifeScript.com that talks about improving body image. They have a list of 10 ways to improve your body image. This article has some great information, and I thought it was worth sharing. Ive picked six of my favorite tips.

1. Admire people for their accomplishments, not their looks- When you surround yourself with people you like, is it because of looks or character? Your role models should be people who have accomplished things you look up to. Take the focus off looks and put it on character.

2. Be active- Exercise increases endorphins. It also provides a great feeling of accomplishment. That feeling can help you look in the mirror with confidence. It doesnt have to be in the gym, there are so many active things you can do that keep you entertained.

3. Enjoy relaxing by yourself- Go get a pedicure. You deserve it. Take time out of your week to relax alone in your favorite way. Valuing time with yourself develops self respect.

4. Remind yourself of your good qualities- Take a few moments each day to journal, or recite aloud positive qualities you have that have nothing to do with looks.

5. Speak positively- When you catch yourself thinking negatively about your body, stop. Then take some time to compliment yourself. No one in this world judges you as critically as you judge yourself. Dont be your own judge, be your own advocate.

6. Eat well- Dont focus on the bad food youve eaten. Start fresh with something fresh. No food is going to make you feel complete on an emotional level. Junk food wont make you feel complete on a physical level, either. Healthy food is the only way to properly nourish your body.

Remember that no matter what the scale says, you are capable of so much. What helps you stay positive when you are running low on confidence?
